Her Hobby Makes Others Happy

Jeannine and
Alyssa

Marie's niece, Jeannine, has a hobby that I envy. It seems that there is a thread of creativity in the Aubin girls, they can make quilts, doilies, afghans, clothes and everything in between. Jeannine makes wreaths.
She said that she has been doing this for about twenty years. I asked if she ever gave lessons, and she said yes and that she had a special room for this.
Eight years ago she was a Family Rediness Group leader. Very interesting that group was started by Vice President Dick Cheney's wife to make sure the families were taken care of while the soldiers were away.

She said that she put in over 1000 volunteer hours in a year taking care of the families while they were deployed; 144 soldier families. She reported to the Commander Sgt. Major. She got the commanders award and Battalion's Eagle Heart Medal for public service when they got back from Afghanistan.

She said that it's nice to know that they have a "piece of her" to remember her by even now that Alyssa is not in the Army any more. She said something that was very profound that I saw on Facebook the other day. Friendships don't go away they just get separated in distance, not in mind.
I have never met Jeannine, but from what I hear she carries Aubin blood in her veins; caring for others and very creative. Thank you for your service too, Jeannine Aubin Haag
